Tell your ex-friend that my life has substantially improved since giving up religion. I no longer feel fear of eternal punishment. When bad things happen, I don't waste time asking why and not getting an answer. I have no inclination to judge other people or to allow myself to be judged for not conforming enough. I am succeeding in my educational and personal pursuits. I still do a lot of community service - in fact more than I did while I was religious. I feel happy and free.

This person is no longer a friend of mine because I just cant tolerate this type of thinking in my life. Its so sad that Christianity leads to this way of thinking. I refuse to have Christians as close friends anymore and I certainly dont date them.
I guess all of your friends have to think exactly like you do. How boring is that?

I like people who disagree with me. I never learn much from the ones who think like I do.

For me ending this friendship boiled down to one thing. Do I keep someone in my life that sees nothing but failure in my future (negative thinking)? I guess it would be like if you grew up with a parent who told you that you would never amount to anything. I frankly don't see how anybody could have positive feelings for a parent that would say this to you. I imagine some would use it to motivate them to prove them wrong but good loving parents don't say this stuff. I still to this day don't regret ending that friendship.
