Islam is now what Christianity was during the Inquisitions. Geopolitical conquest through the use of a cancerous ideology. Islam is the true weapon of mass destruction. Oddly enough I came across a good read on Sam Harris's blog a few hours before this thread.

I think of Islam what I think of other religions: Not much. I tend to think the existence of religion in general does more harm than good, not because of the religion itself, but because of the stupid things people do with it and the way people use it to justify atrocity. I believe the world would be much better off if there was no such thing as organized religion, period.

I'm sorry that we can't be more kindly about it because of our pal Woodrow/Abdullah, who is a fine fellow and, if all Muslims were like him we could be kinder. I also know a lot of Muslims in my area who are also decent bods and I like them. But, even though I admire the architecture at its best, and some of the art, that's really the limit. I find nothing else likeable about it.

Islam is just another way for people to waste their lives on drivel. I don't believe Islam is truly a "religion of peace" and that women "actually have a role of prominence." B.S. I think if I lived in a Muslim country I probably would have been stoned to death - then again, Christians would probably have had a nice go at me had I lived during a time when their hysteria dictated the future of heathens like me. But I digress.

I think Muslims who take their faith seriously are freakin' scary (all religious freaks are scary btw, some more than others).

Any religion that promotes misogyny, inequality, theocratic governments, violences as a solution to any perceived or real problem, ignorance of scientific reasoning, etc. I'm going to have a problem with it. I may like the Muslim people as people (should they be normal, nice, relatively intelligent folks), but I don't admire what they believe.

I guess, as a woman, I have a hard time not perceiving Islam as anything but a driving force behind the subjugation of women. The rights of women in theocratic governments where Islam is at the helm, is proof to me that they have an issue with women and they treat them as inferiors (which, I know, our country did as well in the not too distant past, but that's another post). Anyway, just my two cents.

Yep ... in conservative Christianity a show is also made of praising and lauding women as the pillars of the family, and they do have a compartmentalized sort of power (all indirectly derived from their ability to passively / aggressively withhold things like sex, peace and tranquility, etc), there is the oft-quoted Proverbs 31 that talks about a renaissance woman who is even a business speculator of sorts, but the hidden truth is that it's all at the behest of and within the framework of limitations imposed by men. So when they make this claim, ask them to define "prominence". I can just about guarantee that it's simply putting women up on a pedestal of conditional worship and protectiveness -- conditional upon them being submissive and very, very unequal.

Of course he's a damned-sight richer than you or I, AREQUIPA, and knows just where the seemingly endless source of that spiritually-based income is from. It only takes a mindless approach to life's little quandaries, plus the realization that if it is properly maintained, the pre-determined and chauvinistic Christian or even Islamic male's intolerable social position will, for at least the next few several decades, be sustained.

The blather-headed hatred of us atheist's handle on the factual truth, of honest critical thinking to get where we are intellectually, and of the community support for a growth of our logically acquired knowledge base, have all tolled the death knell for now-out-of-date Christianity, starting in Europe "sinze zhe last vahr!", and now rapidly invading the N. Am. continent. Highest conversion in Kanada, btw. God Bless the socialist and contentedly lowing semi-hordes....

It thusly is left to that bubbling-up celebration of Grande Illiteracy, Islam, to save the day, probably by the official conversion therapy...

Then, their male leaders all chat in the evenings around the ol' Muslim fire, in their best out-west "Montana Muslim" accent, so they can "slither in" and infiltrate our culture unbeknownst to us. NOTE: to those on the constant lookout: If a turban-topped seemingly nice fella offers to buy you a beer in Billings, do take him up on it, but then insist that he have a good long gulp along with you. Bottoms Up, my new friend!

"Hey guys! Tex here is offerin' to buy us all a round! Yeah!"

It's a bonding kind of thing, you tell him! Otherwise, it might be quickly taken all wrong, as an open act of cult-churl hostility!

Or maybe even offer "Tex" a .45 bomb-shooter ( a 2 - 3 oz shot of hi-test Bourbon [Evan Williams 20 yr old special bottled perhaps? One'my favz!] dropped into the bottom of a v. cold Bud. Now, upsy-downsy, Tex-med!). To which he stultifyingly responds, between belches and obvious gut pain...

"You have got to love it, my brothers! Praise Alla... errr... Mister Ron Paul!!"
