But fiscal responsibility - from the White House to my house - is a huge issue for me.
Yes, that's me ... social liberal, in many ways fiscal conservative. I don't assume poor / unlucky people are lazy, I believe in helping one other, etc., but I do expect everyone to be honest, ethical, and available for work, regardless of their financial and social status.

Me too. If there weren't such people, who could I hire to do the stuff I'm too lazy to do myself?

I always am in a struggle between the two camps as I have a useless sister in law who's addiction keeps her tied to section 8 with her (invisible resident bf from jail) and her kids belongings pawned for illegal pain med purchase which I hate paying for her welfare as her lifestyle makes me vomit but then I do want the kids to eat and have an education to spite her.

What to do, what to do...........I know reside in the house of Independent/social yet conservative atheist. lol I'm not good company at parties I'm afraid. One minute I see the need and the next I'm fed up with it. Aw, what to do, now I just hide and mind my own business, ignore the conflict and watch the TED channel and Dr. Who. Maybe I'll get back on the train when I can decide which ticket to buy but for now I hear ya loud and clear!

Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving now as I probably won't get on here tomorrow.

Just finished my shopping as I seem to be hosting again this year and I'm not even American!
(Well I guess it does have it partial roots way back in England...for anyone wondering no its not celebrated in England anymore - my husband has been asked that by two Americans this week! )

Anyway as my husband put it, it's a good excuse to roast a big bird, eat, drink and have two days off work. When in Rome do as the Romans do as they say.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving to all who feast at it, and happy days to all who don't.
I'm thankful we have no relatives coming for the big T-Day this year and I can just stuff my face and let out the ole' top button.

Anybody going to be watching the new series of 'Cosmos' presented by Neil deGrasse Tyson?

Starts this weekend.

Why the New 'Cosmos' TV Series Is Coming to Fox (Video) | Space.com

Very excited. I was 12 when the original series aired. My brother and were glued to it when we were kids. I hope they do justice to the original. I'm going to get my kids to watch it for sure.
