But agree totally on maple Syrup on packnakes. If God had not intended Maple syrup to go on pancakes, he would not have made Canada.
You don't think we have maple syrup in the US? Ever hear of Vermont? Upstate New York also produces good maple syrup. The maple trees don't necessarily pay attention to country (or state) borders.

Just for the heck of it, looked it up. Vermont is the No. 1 maple syrup producer for the US, but Quebec leads world production with about 71% of the market.

I gave up on 'sales' and loss leaders a long time ago. I think you just end up buying stuff that you otherwise wouldn't have been interested in buying. You end up filling your house with a pile of garbage. I save my money to only buy what I actually need. It does mean you have to be organized and go shopping more regularly but it also means that very little gets discarded.
I remember the time I got all excited about couponing. Cut them out and filed them. Then took a good look at them and realized I wouldn’t eat or use 98% of those products if I got them entirely free.

Top of my list of the things I don't miss about the UK is the yob drinking culture. I never fitted in with those types of people.

Britain has been far more socialist than the USA for a long time. Well maybe the 80's and 90's was the last period where Britain enjoyed some measure of prosperity? It's all relative though.
I like a drink, even in a pub, but I've never been part of the drinking culture. The British Yob is I have to say one of the worst faces of Britain.

Vermont...that'll be one of those county -sized bits of America up near the Arctic circle...you're sure it isn't Canada? Quebec, hey...so Maple syrup is actually French. Surprising, that given how much Flavour it has....and having offended everybody except the Germans (who own us) I'll go and stalk Mystic..

I am not sure Vermont itself doesn't think it's Canada. Liberal, maple syrup, and lots of French speakers near the border.

Ok, who is talking smack about my Vermont and my maple syrup?

We usually go through a gallon of syrup a year. No, we don't have pancakes all the time. We use syrup in stir-fries, on pork, chicken, in baking, on ice cream, etc. etc. Around here if you end up in the hospital, they have syrup in the IV bags.

TRUE STORY: One time we had car problems outside Indianapolis. As we were in the garage, the guy looked at our license plate and said, "Vermont? That's one of those small states." Hubby said, "Well, if you flatten it out, it is bigger than Texas." Then he asked, "Is that anywhere near Virginia?" I said, "In the dictionary." I am really surprised he didn't ask, "Vermont? What's state is that in?"

""Well, if you flatten it out, it is bigger than Texas."

I suppose one could say the same about Switzerland. And if there's a "Swtizerland, Indiana" I don't want to know.
