Turns out atheists are smarter.

Religious people are less intelligent than atheists, study finds

I don't want to start a thread on my FB that will end in hurt feelings, so I'm posting it here.

I was going to post that this was nothing new, that the matter had been the subject of numerous studies which established a correlation between IQ and religious belief, and between education levels and religious belief. The higher the IQ or educational level, the less likely the person was to hold religious beliefs.

Then I read the article and saw:
Quote:
according to a new review of 63 scientific studies stretching back over decades.
....so, it isn't being claimed to be something new, just a summary of the existing consensus.

Yes, that's why I found it interesting - I didn't realize just how extensive the body of research was.

Huh? I am a deeply religious nonbeliever - this is a somewhat new kind of religion.
Albert Einstein.

Meh.... I've been over this before... You can't just capture one element of intelligence and proclaim that it's the end of our examinations into the topic. One of the charts used for their analysis was this one:

Does anyone see anything wrong with this graph? Anyone at all?

For those who don't, that graph implies that there are countries with entire populations of people with average IQ's of 60-70... Or... Mildly retarded. The only country I know of where that average could come close is the United States where a good portion of the people do, in fact, seem to be mildly retarded.

In addition to being an agnostic, you are also either a theist or atheist.
