For real. What's really sad is I think the OP is serious.

What did you expect? And why do our answers surprise you?
Do you only believe in things that people tell you to believe in?

No, but it's not the same thing so you cannot compare.

Presumably because someone here might think that you are Dawkins-bot. LOL!

What did you expect? You ask an insulting question that assumes atheists are are so easily led they would change their minds about atheism just because some famous person decided to embrace the concept of Christianity? That they have no minds of their own that some all some famous atheist has to do is denounce their atheism and others would follow?

Brother you have the wrong belief system. The sheep are historically on your side not ours.

What if your Christian leaders suddenly became atheists? Would you then follow them into atheism as well?

Religious people. Imagine if the Pope declared that Jesus wasn't the Son of God, and instead, they had gotten it wrong all this time and really, the Son of God was, say, Matthew. You know how many devout Catholics would suddenly be talking about Matthew, the Son of God? What if Pat Robertson converted to Catholicism? You know how many of his followers would suddenly be Catholic?

Sheeple are sheeple. They allow themselves to be led by the nose, so they assume everyone else is similarly weak-minded.
To answer the OP's question, other people's beliefs or lack of have no effect on what I believe.

To answer Lilac's hypothetical, it is not hypothetical at all, as a pope has already said....."It has served us well, this myth of Christ". Pope Leo X

Not just no, but hell no!
What a preposterous question!
