I enjoy it much more now that I'm old enough not to be dragged along to a ****ing hour-long church service.

I've gotta say I'm feelin' the Christmas spirit while reading through this thread. There really is a powerful feeling of togetherness, peace, goodwill and general high hopes and aspirations for humanity that begs to be remembered and expressed this time of year and while it can often be clouded by religious dogma and the almighty dollar it's a feeling that is ultimately greater than all the "baggage" humanity has managed to pick up along the way.

I guess that's one thing we can all get behind regardless of how we express it!

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Holy Ramadan, Happy Holidays, festive pasta, Have a great bonus day off ect ect! I hope y'all have a good one regardless!

There is no black and white in my world, just multiple shades of grey.

Like it or not, Christianity is inexorably interwoven into Western Culture. To me it's not "picking my poison", just understanding a fact of life and moving past it. Aversion and revulsion for religion solve nothing, real peace comes from rising above it, seeing it for what it is (and isn't) and coming to a place in my life where I'm not bothered by it anymore.
Another mature Atheists!

Good for you.

Another clever atheist that knows how to enjoy life and not be bitter.

I am an agnostic and enjoy going to mass. My wife has a huge collection of nativity sets, it gives her joy and pleasure. Whether there is a God or not is irrelevant.

I could enjoy it better if some sections of society did not try to tell us that it is all true. As soon as it is generally known and accepted that the Christmas, Gospel and bible -stories are no more to be credited than Santa, I will be as 'mature' (trans . 'no threat to the continued power of religion') as you like.

Probably because the "baby" has nothing to do with Christianity really, just things that have been associated with it. If you have reached a point in your life where you have given up, then I hope you enjoy your rest

You are getting close to be a mature Atheist.

Whatever they think is moot. Enjoy the season with all its splendor.

I like it because it's a nice time to get the family together. We've been doing it for as long as I can remember. I don't care much for the religious stuff around it.

The way I see it, you can bash your head against a brick wall untill you knock yourself out or you can climb over it. Once you are at the top, you can put your hand down and help other people climb over too.

Every family needs at least one day a year to get together with extended family members. Might as well be Dec 25, although it could literally be any of the other 364 days.
Christmas will likely be going strong long after christianity begins to fade out.
