A few years ago, my wife and I attended the memorial service of a friendís husband that had passed. I wanted to go to ďthatĒ church service because it was something different that I had not seen before (to my knowledge) and to pay my respects to his wife. Getting to the point here; while attending the service of ďchristiansĒ, I observed some very bizarre comments that were being made by the reverend/preacher and later the son of the deceased. Comments that were totally non-christian, actually more hateful and unloving; I guess I did grew up with the understanding that Christ was a loving being and tolerated most anything during his short stay while on earth. So it blew me away to find that these ďchristiansĒ attending the service were not anything Christlike. Both my wife and I were offended and left asap when the service was over.

That was one of two latest occurrences that continue to make me think about why Iím an agnostic and canít find a church group that I feel comfortable with. Something that isnít just another cult. Being around people who claim to be Christian and yet not being Christlike is very disturbing to me. That's my fault for seeing them in a poor light and being less objectionable about their actions and comments.
Would you be willing to share what some of the bizarre, hateful comments were?

Don't hold your breath waiting for an answer.

I asked the same question in post #24 and never got a good answer.

Exactly. If someone asks me I will tell them I am an Atheist or I am non religious. At times I need help from religious places like churches with food or help with christmas etc and don't care to make it a problem with my beliefs but since they insist on "counseling" you they know I am a non believer. Wife is a christian but doesn't attend church...we live in the DEEP bible belt so its just survival...
