I don't know about creepy, but I would have hoped for a much better design. This one is not that great.

In principle, I'm all for it.
I'm an atheist and prefer material that doesn't contain the added layer of belief in and reference to religiosity.

Thing is, I don't spend my time focusing on the fact that I'm an atheist-
lack of religiosity is a significant aspect of my life yet it's almost always in the background.
To me, it's just assumed that there is no there there, in the way (albeit, in opposite direction)
that religious people take it on faith that there is a there there.

If it's a lot of science programs, how would that be different from the science-y channels that are already out there ?
If it's political, then how is that different from MSNBC, Democracy Now, or the late Air America ?
Wonder if they'll be willing/able to run shows from other content providers,
so long as those series meet some criteria (to be determined) ?

I'm curious about how much is going to be original programming, how much will be scripted shows,
and whether the channel/network will be able to attract talent (and/or well-known talents).
Would make sense to me to try to work with at least some (not all) folks who are already well-regarded and popular
known atheists (such as Bill Maher and Stephen Fry), to build on an existing fanbase.

Again, I'm in favor of the idea/rationale, am merely concerned about the details/implementation-
we want the venture to be successful (instead of an object lesson in how *not* to do it).

Regarding the channel:

One of the motivations is to 'criticize' religion. I can understand that. Just curious how that 'criticism' will be done.

And as far as 'original' programming I'd think it would be a fascinating instance of watching how atheism in the 21st approaches the issues of humanism and the theological plus their clash with the programming. Arguably this can be the time to present the atheistic case to the masses as well as to believers.
