Let me preface this post by stating I am not trying to prove a point. I’m probably more an atheist than anything else but I keep an open mind. I don’t buy into the deism of modern or historical religions but I also don’t put blind faith in science, not because it is unreliable, which it isn’t, but because it is so dynamic and subject to change. I trust science but I also have perspective, and there is much we don’t know or haven’t known. This is an example of this.
Before looking at the article, I'm guessing this is about the fact that antimatter and matter should theoretically be equivalent and thus all-annihilating, but in reality there is a slight asymmetry in favor of matter?
Upon now clicking on the article, I can say that it is reassuring to receive confirmation that I've occasionally retained something from my many years of drunkenly reading Internet forums.
'Researchers are now looking at the gravity of antimatter to see whether it could fall “up” — hopefully providing the explanation we need to understand how we can explain anything at all.'
This seems, dare I say, obvious, given that everything else about antimatter is the antithesis of matter.
I still have no idea about why antimatter actually exists though. I wish I loved reading about physics when I was sober. When I read about it sober, I tend to find it...sobering.
