As is usually the case, you don't get It at all. You are thinking in terms of Likes and Dislikes. We think only in terms of what is probable on evidence and reason, and as you ought to have seen by now, the God -claim isn't.
We are on it. But believers can't see it. Their road is a low one - a polemic ploy to belittle atheists in hopes to discredit them, shut them up, deprive them of influence and continue religious dominance.
Understandably they see our arguments as just the same, but they are not. It really comes down to one thing. Our arguments are valid and logical. Theirs are not. You may deny that, but it's been shown up often enough.
I know the believers think they can trump evidence and logic with Faith and Love, but they fail as valid support very quickly. Love is fine as an ideal, but if Global Atheism won't make the world a paradise , appeals to global Love isn't going to.
And if they argue that everyone having Love as they do would transform the world, I can only say that the "Love" such people exhibit here, only makes me fear that it would sink the world into a cesspit of religious violence.
you confuse the good parts of self help and the universe with over organized religion. For some people, needing the biosphere to interact with them in an emotional way is something that needs to be addressed in a rational manor. "religion is so dangerous I am denying anything" isn't the most valid path because its just not observationally supported.
whether its dogs loving them (feedback loop) or the entire system (feedback loop), through its "cells", its back by science observations. what you believe about religion arg has no bearing on how the system is interacting with us. some people need mord's type of belief based self help and others need joel olstene belief based self help. as long as you stomp out any in between stances we will have the war you so dearly need.
you sect of atheism's hate runs as deep as any theists I know.
No all I've "seen by now" is arogant pig headed attacks. Same tired lines over and over. "Evidence science logic maturity " you claim ( basicly what, the same 5 posters?)
Well I noticed this thread was moved out of general spirituality into atheism sect and I dunno when but I now know that this discussion is no longer a mixed audience.
You had my attention for a while and haven't gotten around to using your evidence or science to prove to the public G-d is fake. You go into any non atheism thread and expect us to prove his reality....with no point, practice what you preach
And call it logic all you want but its just your own thoughts,
None of yalls arguments have developed in any way and I've been posting back and forth with you for weeks and hundreds of posts. I could loop them together in the same 20 replies. Yall-are tired, dead and stagnant
I want to talk to people that actually think about the topic and their reply
It doesn't happen in your organized athesim, its a perverted <bleep>

Reason: unacceptable language

some in my group have had serous gut wrenching events in their lives due to a religious person. The people in these religions are accountable. Thats a fact that won't, nor should it, go away.
"security blanket", yes, humans need security blankets. Again, a fact that is independent of a statement of belief about god. For or against.
Self help is not a one size fits all. we have atheists self help that is good for some and there is joel olstene self help that is good for others.
Using this topic as a reason to disprove or prove god is why I see jokers to the left and clowns to the right. Both sides are solving for an emotional need. They completely ignore the logistics of the human being.
I can agree to that, I am interested in thinkers, not people to use "holocaust babies" as a deflector. I talk to and live and work with all kinds of people, everyone needs and has a crutch to help them along. It so happens those who lean on God have a living supporter

...
To "quote" one of your group (over a gut wretching expirence with a non believer that pushed me to God )....... "so? Can't use personal hardships as a trump card or an excuse. "
You either use logic and continue to reason to move forward , or shut down and become closeminded.
So the pair of you can tell each other comfortable lies about atheists to convince yourselves that atheism is wrong - they only win all their arguments.
Well have your fun (and snarls ) because you don't matter. If the rush to irreligion is real and not just a misreading of the survey results, we can do it without spending time trying to deconvert those who have forgotten how to listen.
I'm forcibly reminded of the sameness of the Comments read out in this vid. The same stock accusation, the same debunked white -whiskered watchmaker and 'something bad happened to youd' arguments. The same hate and resentment. We have heard it all before, and have come to suspect it at the end, and we are fooled and bothered by none of it.
Since this thread is probable nearing the end of its usefulness, I though I might post this, which has now become relevant. It is Eric Hovind inviting Sye Breuggencate to sit with him and rewrite the debate with Matt Dillahunty to make it come out the way they want.
It is a painful -to -watch exercise in denial but educational - though not in the way it was intended.
Yes, the click -answer is a but of a Business, but is a nice illustration of 'joining the dots' selected points to get where you want, at which 'you couldn't prove anything if God didn't exist' simply doesn't stack up.
