It isn't the pastor's job to control or interfere in what other people's children believe or what other people tell their children or whether other people participate in the Santa Claus fantasy -- or for that matter, the Jesus fantasy.
That is what is bothering you. Just like a stopped clock is right twice a day, the pastor happens to be correct that Santa isn't real ... the problem isn't that he's right, nor does his being right make up for the problem ... which is that he's impertinent and controlling.

Mordant, what are you doing? This is the JOKE thread for pete's sake.... I consider you one of the best informed and valuable posters around these parts, but y'all ought not to be breaking down and critically analyzing this stuff.
Pastor David is right, the little brats need a good dose of reality, they shouldn't be going around believing Santa's real and reindeers can fly...
Besides, shopping malls would bring in a lot more business if they cordoned off an area and had regular WWF versions of "Smack-downs" between evangelicals and the public rather than Santa. Be honest with yourself, which of the two scenarios would be more likely to get YOU into the mall.
I haven't seen reality crash a party so effectively since the character of the same name did so in an episode of "South Park". A quotation from said character below...
"Reality": "What's the matter with you people? Your sad, that people are mean? Well I'm sorry, the world isn't one big liberal arts college campus!!"
