Well, gotta fess up here, I have been donating a pint of my own B+ to the red cross on a regular (sorta) basis since 1967, at least 3 or 4 pints/year.

I've worked for a non-profit and I find that a large percentage of your money donated goes to overhead and salary etc..... So I prefer to donate my time/materials instead of money, because at least then I can make sure my effort is being used properly. Regarding Habitat for Humanity, me and my boyfriend shop for the vast majority of our home improvement stuff at H4H ReStore... it's amazing!

I would not knowingly donate money to a christian or other affiliated with religion charity. There are plenty of them who don't push religion on the people they are trying to help and those are the ones I would deal with.

I have in the past, and I would again. I'm an atheist, and all things being equal I would prefer a secular charity, or perhaps even one that shares and propagates my anti-government views, but no such charities currently rank very high...
