Jesus' words have been teaching us since he said them.

How could belief in gods possibly predate atheism? Think about it.
You are correct! A baby is born an Atheist and I will gladly give you that one. Of course we cannot prove it one way or the other, but it is safe to assume the baby is an Atheist.

But, we are talking about adult Atheists. If they have been around longer than other religions one would think they must have written something. Can you pinpoint to the first era of Atheism?

Atheist of this era write books to spread the gospel of Atheism,

I Don't Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist by Norman L. Geisler, Frank Turek and David Limbaugh (Mar 12, 2004)

The Little Book of Atheist Spirituality by Andre Comte-Sponville and Nancy Huston (Sep 30, 2008)

The Christian Atheist: Believing in God but Living as If He Doesn't Exist 2011

An Accidental God: The Evolution of Religion, or How a Boy from the Dawn of Civilization Became the God of Jews...

A quick search in Amazon yields a lot of Atheism literature. Do you know when was the first Atheist book published?

There is no gospel of atheism...It's not a religion, has no doctrine, dogma or rules.

So atheists write books...So what?.....Are you a bit slow? Atheists would have nothing to write about concerning god or religion before these concepts were invented, would they?

Why so many books on Atheism? The purpose of writing a book is to tell a story or spread information.

For your information:

An Atheist Manifesto
Joseph Lewis (Author)

First publish in 1954 may be useful to young Atheists in search of guidance.

It is called push-back, as atheists were, and still are the most distrusted segment of American society....An Atheist Manifesto was published at the height of the Cold War to dispute popular ideas that atheism was un-American.

A new study by the University of B.C. says religious people distrust atheists more than they do persons from other religious groups, gays and feminists. The study found that the only group religious people distrust as much as atheists are rapists. Study says religious people distrust atheists as much as rapists

No, I don't know that atheists should be considered as citizens, nor should they be considered patriots. This is one nation under God........... George H W Bush

While the thread is actually about disenchantment with religion it has turned (as it always does) to making pointed queries about atheism: 'Why are there so many books being written?' (that there are more Bibles than anything else is presented as proof that it makes it somehow More true) 'Doen't that make you very much like evangelical fundamentalists?' (no, because atheism is not a religion and it is just that for far too long the very real doubts about that validity of the religious claim have been kept silent. As Sans says, it is 'push back' time, and long overdue (I post thus to pre- refute any accusation that I am suggsting changing the subject, because we have been put on the spot. This questions are easily answered or refuted, but this might not be the relevant thread. e.g 'sincere questions'.)

A reminder about 'topic' may also be overdue.
