Yup, I love myths, but realize they are just entertaining stories....Well some are, others not so much....Every day I learn something new, and often have to discard something I thought was true...What have you thrown out about about your beliefs lately?

I just listened to a very interesting sermon on the book of Hebrews, chapter 7. Can't say I "threw anything out", but I did learn how the New Covenant is related to the Old. Very interesting information regarding Melchizedek.
I enjoy defending the faith, and sharpening my skills by picking apart the arguments of atheists. I realize it's unlikely that any of you guys will actually admit that one of us makes sense, or decide to believe what we say...but it does give me experience for when I will run into someone with an open mind in the real world.
Exactly the same thing can be said about you. Unlikely that you would ever even consider a fact that does not conform to your preconceived and irrational beliefs.
I have said it before, If your god himself came and spoke to you and told you that you had it wrong, you would attempt to correct his thinking. Your beliefs are merely that, beliefs. Not facts, or even good fiction. Yet you come to this forum, in direct violation of the forum rules, and preach your brand of belief. You fail to see why anyone takes you seriously, when you can't follow either your gods rules or mans rules?
You are one of the best reasons for anyone to be an atheist. Your beliefs.
I have a question, that may be related to this thread.
Here's the situation, I have a nephew who is 17, and he believes that Spiderman is real. The family cannot seem to shake this belief. He doesn't realize that Spiderman is merely a comic. We can't prove to him that Spiderman does not exist, because you cannot prove the non-existence of something (especially when he says that Spiderman is purposely avoiding detection for the good of society). He states that Spiderman is real because he just knows in his heart that he is.
How should my family handle this? We want my nephew to live in reality and not a fantasy world with comic-book characters that are controlling things.
This isNOT an analogy to anything else. I am interested in how our family can use logic to get our nephew back to a world of reality, because we do love him.
And that's why we call atheism a faith. People choose to believe in nothing despite the evidence.
The problem with saying that atheism requires faith is that there is no evidence for the existence of a deity. What constitutes as being evidence is something which can be proven through the scientific method although the concept of god is undetectable by means of the scientific method.
