The negative response from the Christian Religious Right (The so-called Moral Majority) regarding stem cell research funding, as well as his re-funding of overseas fertility and reproductive health/abortion clinics, is understandable! It speaks to the mandated separation of Church & State that was clearly in danger during the Bush years, where your tax money went to many faith-based programs, clearly going against the societal grain as well as the law, not to mention the wishes of more than 50% of the general tax-paying public.

What else should the Democrats do that would support religious freedom (freedom "of", which may also effectively mean, in certain practical situations, "from").

The amount the USA pledges by comparison to the rest of the world is not that big. It appears this is one of those single issues the GOP like to use with their uninformed "base"

The PPC (Poor Persecuted Christians) of America sadly have too much leverage in your govt affairs and their biggest fear is of the outlawing of their "faith"

Was the same here in SA pre 1994 and the church is still going strong. Here they pay taxes

I have no idea, but I just wish that he would reinstate the constitution as it was before Bush took office. And my DF fears that our rights to own guns will be removed in spite of the news saying otherwise. I also hope that torture has been removed, because I believe Torture to be Godless. And I wish he would spent more time talking to the terrorists as he said he would do.

Of course he noted that the Churchy types are also clingy with their firearms, didn't he? torture: interesting topic. If we peons knew even 0.00001% of what's really going on out there in the world of international intrique, spionage, ec., it would put us into apoplectic fittage!

Our problem is we tend to over-announce everything we do. On CNN, FOX, etc. The world then gets to gleefully gloat over any and all of our mistakes, the ones they all keep to themselves. As in" Life is perfect here in Russia / China / Cuba / Iran". Etc.

I don't like the idea of torturing anyone, esp. if it's me being "convinced". But imagine if you really do have the bad guy, and you know he knows what you need to know. You need to know now it NOW to save innocent lives! Quiet "dialoge" won't cut it, and only engenders comic laughter at us and our meek and naive leadership.

Else your Aunt tillie and her family wedding party are going to be emolliated in the town square by some nasty little dirty bomb that "Abdul", "Enrico", "Frank", or "Aaron" or "Tisdale" (?) lovingly concocted in their 'lair' last month.

Which should it be? Their scorched inger-tips or your Auntie's entire family's innocent lives? They, after all, brought their stupid religious war to our shores on 09, 11, 2001 and absolutely will do so again. Thousands more WILL die, I'd regrettably predict.

So, as it relates to the OP, perhaps by quieting the government's direct involvement in Xtian or Muslim pursuits, we might tone it down a bit with PrezBarama's new directives? Sorta maybe change the topics and tone in public discussion? Don't assume pompously that "This country was formed under the guidance and direction of God!" as is so often mis-stated...

Now, if we could only interrupt our massively huge contribution to Isreal. ($$$BBBB every year. What, exactly, is with that? Anyone got any ideas or faxcts on that? I'd love to be better informed on that one!).

Well one simply has to look at what it is exactly that Israel exports and is that enough to sustain 3M of teh chozen plus their huge military might compared to their relatively rich oil baron neighbors? I once read of about $16Bn but I suspect that is not enough or is not the real amount.

The real question I would like answered is how is it that we only have ±6M Jews worldwide and if one backtracks to 70AD, either then they were almost all wiped out and again in WWII. Simple math tells me that a remnant of 1930 years would produce more offspring a whole lot more than that and seeing their then strict code of not marrying Goyim aka dogs aka us, I just find it strange their numbers are so low.

*Puts away tinfoil hat*

I have tried researching this but it is all a dead end
