“and why” exactly the right question.
I see no reason to swear on any book.
Swear at a book, maybe. But not on one.

Whichever one the bailiff puts in front of me.
Because I don't care.

There was a big stink over some congressman using the koran. You guys know I'm a Christian, but honestly...I guess I don't much care. The constitution doesn't specify to use a Bible. I don't recognize the koran or any other "holy book" as being authoritative and because I value the Bible I'd probably use the Bible--but I don't care what anyone else would use.

I thought someone was going to say they'd swear in on Perpetual Peace or something, I don't know or some other manuscript. Guess not. Huh. Maybe I should have put it just under Philosophy.

The "Big Picture Book of Trucks" would be just as good as any for me...

You could always swear on a math or science book. They contain more truth than all the religious books. Personally, I wouldn't swear on any but if I absolutely had to, I would swear on the Angelic Revelations of Divine Truth or the True Gospel Revealed Anew by Jesus books.

There's a book (now a series?) called 'Everything you know is wrong'. I'd say that sounds appropriate enough.
