No offence, but really - your comment is laced with self pride.
You say that like its a bad thing. But I wonder if you can explain why it would be a bad thing to have pride in myself, (assuming I wasn't arrogant or boastful)?
I just can't imagine why anyone would choose to have the purpose of their life to be to worship someone else. That seems so depressing to me.
I agree with other posters, the ultimate purpose in life is to have the most fun you can without harming anyone else, emotionally, physically, or any other way. Work when you have to, play when you can, help "teach a man to fish" whenever you can.
Nothing bad about making "God" the center of our lives. "God" is different energies to different people. "God" can mean "expanded pleasure" "cosmic awareness." Any multitude of things. My purpose in life is to enhance the quality of my daily awareness. I am reading up on Deism. Living fully is a grand purpose.

I'm reading "Across the Himalayas" and it's very good for self awareness. Some very interesting thoughts to ponder. I got the pdf version from my teacher and I think you can get it on Amazon. If you can't find it, I can send you a link, IF you're interested.

Your answer, like most who have responded, expresses virtue not purpose. I’m truly saddened to see that there is such confusion among those in our society today. We are supposedly the best educated of all time.
