I hadn't thought that deeply into it. To me it is a nice winter solstice festival, I don't feel guilty about a reasonable excuse to feast. I suspect it was a solstice celebration long before it was christmas.

I try to ignore it all as best I can, but like most Atheists I have family members who love the lights, and will have something for all religious views scattered around the house. She does skips the catholic garbage for me, and that is good enough for me.

It's funny I was thinking about this the other day ...about when I get REALLY old and maybe have to be in nursing home or assisted living apartment and how I will ever get through all the Christmas crap they try to shove down my throat....I'm doing upper body weight training now so I have enough strength left to knock over the "community Christmas tree" and drag it behnd my wheelchair.......YeeHAWWWW!!!!.....
