Sentenced to only 8 1/2 years, probably get back out in four.
It is things like this that prove absolutely that there is no kind and loving heavenly father.
Only a sick and cruel god would stand by idly and allow things like this to happen.

Why should they be afraid of going to hell if they can just ask Jesus to forgive them of their sins?
