Atheist and Agnostic Views: For Atheist and Agnostics only:
I think it might help a lot of us if we had a thread which would have no set topic, and thus would move like a conversation among like thinking individuals. To make this work we need to limit it to Atheist and Agnostics. I have seen several threads on the A&A forum with this request and think it would be needed to keep the thread from being closed. If we say something the religious find offensive it should make no difference as the only people invited are Atheist and Agnostics, and we would not have any religions or religious people to be attacking.
I would like to start the thread with a discussion on if the Jesus character in the bible really existed. It is a good mixed thread subject, but I think will be much better when not discussing it with people who will be offended by just the question. I also think with this as a base we should be able to cover a wide range of historical events including the validity of the bible as a historical document and current events which are advancing the non-religious movement without the ugly rhetoric seen in mixed threads.

I'm a member of another forum that has what's called a "Blah Blah" thread. I think we should have a similar one, but every post has to be somewhat relevant. From the topics brought up above to casual things like an experience with door-to-door people or a debate you had. That kind of thing.

That is against the TOS:
Stay on topic. Attempts to hi-jack threads by switching topics or going off topic will be deleted and infractions issued. This is not a chat room - when people hi-jack threads by posting messages that are of interest to only few people, the threads often stop being useful discussions of initial topics.
As for allowing who can and cannot post in a particular thread... I thought it was religious people who were the "exclusionists"

Good luck in it staying limited to us, but we can certainly try.
As I mentioned in a similar thread, I think an Essene teacher named Yeshua more than likely did exist. Much of what we read concerning Jesus's word in the gospels point to being very Essene in nature according to some scholars. While the traditional thought is that Essenes stayed together in their own communities, it is becoming apparant that this was not the case. Rather, you had Essene coummunities that existed within othe Jewish communities. Sort of like the Italian or Irish sections of a city.
The Essene Rabbi would have preached a message much different than the ones taught by Pharisee or Sadducee rabbis of the day. He probably infuriated the Pharisee leaders of the day and did not make any friends of the Sadducees either. According to the bible, he at at least on apostle that was a "Zealot". If there was one, there were bound to be others. Yeshua's activities would not have gone unnoticed by the Roman authorities. The real Pontius Pilate of history was most certainly not the timid man potrayed in the gospels. He would have dealt with this Essene rabble rouser decisively and swiftly.
I see the myth of Jesus Christ as being much along the same lines as the myth of King Arthur. There is evidence that a great cavalry general existed during the Dark Ages that defeated the Saxons and took the Isles back for the Britons. From that seed, the Arthurian Legend was built. More than likely, the same thing happened with an Essene rabbi named Jesus.

Yes, because a thread with no specific topic to begin with could be taken off-topic.

The thread has a topic - it's a repeat of the Jesus Christ topic. Just because you say the thread has no defined topic does not make it so
The pen in front of my computer is now a calculator solely because I'm standing on my chair and telling everyone it's a calculator before they see what it is exactly

The point is, if that occurs than it will shift back with the next post, and what is the problem if we have a thread where we “chat” if you like that term. The use of Atheist and Agnostic only threads has been used before. I know it won’t be all A&A individuals, but I would think the subjects and attempt to keep from offending those who follow a religion would be respected by all but the trolls. As for Atheist not being "exclusionists" you are wrong. I block out the religious poster who seem lost in their myths. I have no interest in any exchange with someone who seems to think the bible is the end all on issues. Sure keeps my blood pressure down these days.
