Hi There,
I am looking at a potential move from NYC to Atlanta in next 1-2 months for work and am looking for aparments that are more Gay Friendly close to Piedmont Park. Budget is flexible (around $2,000 for a 1 bedroom). I have seen two buildings online (77 12th Street & Skyhouse) but not sure what they are like.

Any feedback is really appreciated.

Thanks Alex

Most buildings in Midtown are going to be gay friendly. Being gay in Atlanta is like being straight in Atlanta. You will not have any problems...no one cares here due to our accepting citizens and due to the fact that Atlanta is one of Gayest cities in America.

Here is a link to other apartment buildings in Midtown in your price range (Midtown Apartments - Apartments for Rent in Midtown, Atlanta, GA).

I hope this helps!

Thanks so much for your quick response.

What would you say is the best building/s in that price range (based on location, facilities etc).

Regards.

Anywhere in Midtown will fit the bill. Skyhouse South & Skyhouse Midtown I know for sure are great locations and you will have plenty of change left over out of your $2000 budget. Skyhouse South will give you more for your money, and you are in walking distance of all Midtown has to offer.

Every building in Midtown is gay friendly.
77 12th is the nicest of the new large apartment buildings in Midtown.
Post Parkside has more unique loft-style apartments right next to Piedmont Park.
You can also consider renting a condo - check Craigslist. Spire, Viewpoint, Metropolis, and Plaza Midtown are all extremely gay-friendly high rises, and most have 1-bedrooms for rent for around $1400-$1600. Just make sure they are HOA-approved to be rentals.

Mayfair towers I and II (affectionately called GAYFAIR) are a block or two from the park and in the center of everything. The units, while luxurious, are quite small. Coming from NYC I doubt that would be a problem?

Mayfair is kind of stodgy compared to the new ones like Spire.

Everything in Midtown is gay friendly. That's like asking is Chinatown Chinese friendly lol. The closer you are to Piedmont and 10th St the "gayer" it gets. Try Skyhouse South apartments. Good luck

Midtown is a great neighborhood and you will love it but based on the price range you threw out you might enjoy areas a little further northwest as well like Vinings and parts of Buckhead. They are known for being where many of the wealthier GLBT people in the city tend to reside. Midtown is more of a socioeconomic montage being as close as it is to areas that are more working class (i.e. Boulevard). Not knowing your personality just wanted you to be aware of all the options. The area immediately around Lindbergh Center is also very Midtown like. Just be sure to read apartment reviews online before signing a lease because some apartments that look immaculate are actually roach invested or have other issues you would never catch if you are from out of town.

Is there a building in Atlanta not gay friendly? I think your concern is based more on a stereotype than the reality of Atlanta today.
