The area near Gwinnett Place Mall doesn't even look American. It might as well be Mexico or South Korea.

I wanted to get an honest feedback from the native Georgians about how they feel about the drastic changes taking place on Pleasant Hill near Gwinnett Place Mall in the last ten years? The area looks to be appear like a developing new Korea town of Atlanta. I wouldn't be suprise me at all if Gwinnett Place Mall turned into an Asian Shopping Center with Asian retailers with MegaMart being the first.

Do you guys see this as a positive or negative change if South Koreans invest and renovate the area to newer and bigger Asian retail stores to meet the international customer's demand which is growing fast near the Gwinnett Place Mall area? If this change is reducing the gang activity and low income entry, would many of you see this as a positive or negative change to Gwinnett County? I had a chance to speak with someone from the Gwinnett economic development team, and his response was that there many who see it as a positive change, but many native Georgians who are oppose to the dramatic ethnic demographic shift in the area. I would love to hear your opinions.

I live in Atlanta, not Gwinnett, but I think it is great! I love Asian culture and it's awesome to not have to go very far to experience it.

Third world countries are that way not because the people aren't capable of building a successful society, but because their government is oppressive and won't let them. They also don't live in a democracy like we do and cannot vote. And since most of those people are too poor and uneducated, again due to oppressive governments, they can't travel and don't know any better. That doesn't mean they aren't capable of building a successful society if given the opportunity.

I want America to remain a free country where people can come and try to make a better life for themselves no matter who they are. However, some people in this country don't want it to be that way. They are the ones that, if they could have their way, want a country where everyone is exactly like them and believe everything they do (Sounds like Communist Nazi's to me... Talibaptists anyone???).

You are too busy looking at someones race and assuming that's just how they are instead of looking at WHY some are the way they are. It has more to do with education and poverty because there are plenty of normal, educated, law abiding black, Hispanic, Asian, etc people in this country who contribute more than some white people (and I am white myself).

Seriously, take a trip to a third world country. They all do have either an extremely corrupt or an extremely oppressive "government". None of them are fully free democracies.

Almost all of the countries in Africa for instance have extremely large amounts of natural resources, precious metals and jewels (diamonds anyone?) or oil or all of the above.

Race has zero to do with it.

There are no true democracies.

We're a Republic, as are most first world countries.

You know what, though, there are also third world republics, and they can vote. However, they have nowhere near the quality of life as those of Western Civilization. I wonder why that might be.

NO third-world nation has a democratic government. I honestly cannot think of one. However, I can think of several non-white, non-Asian nations that are very economically successful, including The Bahamas, The United Arab Emirates, Brazil and Chile. Also, that's just today. I shouldn't even mention Ancient Egypt or the Songhay Kingdom or the Mayan Empire, because that'll be wasted on you. Because you are a racist Neo-Nazi, you believe blacks, Native Americans and Latinos are naturally inferior. We know. From your perspective -- brown = stupid, and white = successful.

I can only hope that you will wake up from your ignorant, bigoted stupor and realize that skin color means nothing. There are good and bad people, stupid and intelligent people in every race. The human race is the ONLY race.

I, as well as probably most Atlantans, see it as a positive development. The influx of Koreans to Atlanta in particular has been amazing to watch and how whole swaths of the metro have changed with it is equally impressive.

Don't let the few negative posts about this fool you. There will all be those who are unable to accept change or anything other than what they are comfortable with. Fortunately, they are in the vast majority and would usually will do everything in their power to avoid those of us who aren't like that.

Great post overall--

However, Brazil does have racism--lots of it.

And, I don't think their economy is going to surpass the U.S.'s anytime soon--if ever.

I actually was in the Pleasant Hill area today and I was pretty stunned that it didn't look like America at all. For one the people in the area drive horrid, no signals and just blatant violations of the law. I went to a shopping center and was stunned to see ON PLEASANT HILL RD there are stores with no English on the storefront.

All I saw were Asian people and Hispanics, I was stunned. I think its great America is a melting pot and offers opportunity but there is a complete loss of diversity here.

There should be state/city ordinances that YOU HAVE TO USE ENGLISH!!!

It was stunning, I remember this area in the 90s...wow
