Gwinnett is now a minority majority county *| ajc.com

Not surprised as this has been a long time coming. But now it is official.

Kind of crazy when you consider it was almost 90% white in 1990. In my opinion, the Olympics is mostly the cause of Gwinnett's minority/immigrant explosion.

Not really surprised. With Gwinnett now being majority minority, Cobb is now the only one of the five core Metro counties (Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton, and Gwinnett) that's majority white.

When I first saw this article earlier I just knew someone was going to post this. I was hesitant to post at first because of how the thread MIGHT turn out. BBC, all I'll say this that I agree with your comments-It is eye opening to think that twenty years ago it was 90% white and just ten years ago 67% white. I don't think it's cause for celebration or for anger, "it is what it is" as some say.

I first started hearing hearing the term "majority minority" about 25 years ago. I know I should just go with the flow but to me when you're no longer a minority, then you're no longer a minority.

I doubt that will last...in 2006 Cobb was only 56% white.

I would have thought Cobb had passed that mark before Gwinnett to tell you the truth...ah well, doesn't make any difference really, both of them are still great places to live imo. Can't beat the taxes in the Gwinnett if you're thinking about opening a business.

Lumping diverse groups of people into a group called "minorities" is meaningless.

TERRIFIC POST. The article was written to cause trouble. Gwinnett is White, Asian, Indian, Black, Hispanic, etc.... And for the record (even though it does not matter), the largest segment of group is white.

Come on, y'all...

Y'all understand what "majority-minority" really means.

We can just say "majority non-white." Better for complete understanding?
