hello.

we are moving to ATL.
my office is in buckhead area.
Not really sure if we will be in ATL for a year or 5 yrs
but want to buy a place, with a exit strategy in place-renting or fixing up and selling.

budget is 200-500K, i do realise this is a wide range?
Were thinking of getting a short sale/foreclosure/fixxerup' in buckhead or surrounding areas, hoping that, if we buy one of those now, might have some inbuilt equity which could make the exit easier?

We have a small baby, so school is not an issue for us but for resale, would prefer to be in the right school district.

One ATL realtor told us, to use zillow to compare est values, as the Fulton county tax values are all messed up, maybe thats accurate- this is the first time we have had a realtor recommend zillow.

I dont know what my question is, but any top of mind feedback would be great to guide us right

thanks a lot for your time.

br
Maddy.

Where is Zillow obtaining their information from? I find that kind of odd.

I am now in similar predicament (move to Buckhead). I have two school age kids. Not sure where to live.

What did you end up doing? What advice can you offer me?

Andy

Don't depend on Zillow as they are all over the board with their estimates. For homes I was interested in, I would check Zillow, the Fulton County Tax site and then google the house address and check out the home history of neighborhood homes. Also used Trulia. I think it is essential that you do your homework and find out the comparable sales to determine trends and realistic value (declining daily it appears).
Most important you need an agent who you can trust and will work for you. Mine has an excellent with information on the area, schools, etc. as well as sending daily new listings that fit my criteria.
