Quit being a friggin NIMBY. Smyrna needs the JOBS and the TAXES that Glock provides this town. And I think this has more to do with GUNS than it has to do with expansion. Just my opinion. Glock pays lots of taxes here, hires people and makes a good quality reliable product (no I do not own one nor do I work there).

I am a liberal so don't tag us all the same. I support Glock and their expansion. We need the taxes and jobs that come with it. As for air pollution, if it was that much of a concern people would not be living in the shadow of that 700 foot smokestack on the other side of 285 called Plant Atkinson. That place puts more crap on the air in one day than Glock does in 100 years!

thanks for bringing this issue to my attention
I have a better idea cityrover from Acworth. Post your address and I will be happy to work on your behalf with the City of Acworth to get a nice package put together for Glock to relocate in your back yard. You can deal with the hazardous materials in your air, ground, and potentially your drinking water.

I have no problem with Glock being in Smyrna. Just don't think they belong literally in the backyard of residential homes. If you owned one of the homes, I assure you would say the same.

Have never not voted for a Republican in an election so not even close to a liberal. Of course next years council election might be the first. Member of Republican party. Believer in the second amendment which is the right to keep an bear arms. Not a believer in the right to produce and test 50' from a residential house and neighborhood. Don't want the next Erin Brockovich movie to be about me and my family. This isn't a conservative versus liberal topic, it is a right and wrong one. Thanks for empowering me to do even more to squash this.

Guys, we're talking about a gun range- one that gets more use than the typical facility, but still a gun range. Gun ranges are built with some extreme filtration systems that capture the lead from the air, preventing it from being released into your neighborhood. This is not an "Erin Brockovich story waiting to happen" as someone suggested.

And regarding "explosion hazards", we're talking about ammunition- it's not nitro glycerin- it's not going to explode without there being a fire, and the facility has a fire suppression system that matches the hazard (I was involved in pricing their last expansion, so I'm familiar with the facility).

99% of the population of Smyrna wouldn't even know Glock was there if there weren't stories in the paper about their expansion- their facility is very unobtrusive. If you were that concerned about having them as a neighbor, perhaps you should have paid closer attention when you bought your house, considering that the industrial/commercial uses have been there for quite some time.

doesn't matter how safe or how quiet the facility is. i'm against any business expansion into residential areas. if they want to grow, then relocate to another area of town that is zoned correctly. this has nothing to do with anti-gun sentiments.
