Do you have lakes with beaches for the little ones in summer time around Atlanta? (Snellville: to rent, homes)

Where do the little ones swim beside the swimming pools during summer time?

Here in Boston we have the ocean, but we also have awesome lakes with small beaches, and the water is really nice, could you name me something like this? We are getting there in 2 weeks and I want to find this fun places for the hot days.

Any ideas for water parks as well? thanks!

Google Lake Lanier Islands Beach and Water Park. I think Lake Allatoona also has a beach or two.

Also, Six Flags Whitewater in Marrieta, The Beach in Clayton County and there is supposed to be an indoor park opening in Lithonia in a couple of years.

Norris Lake on the east side of Atlanta (Snellville). The only thing is, you have to own or rent a home in the community to use the beach or have boats or jet skis on the lake. It's a great area.

Sun Valley Beach in Powder Springs is popular on the western side of Metro Atlanta.

We swim mostly in pools, either public park pools or private neighborhood pools -- both are very popular. Of course, some people have pools at their homes.

What part of town will you be near?

LastMinuteMom is correct... most intown families go to local or backyard pools. If you are going to go to Sarah Smith, many of the families belong to the Roxboro Valley Pool. You will have to join for membership. Another option is the Buckhead YMCA. Many younger Smith families swim there. Again you have to have a membership. Also, Chastain park, which is also close, has a public pool, so you do not have to join. I have not been there this year, but I hear they are projecting many new structural changes, so I do not know whether they are open. Maybe someone else on this forum can update you on that. Garden Hills also has a public pool, but I have never been, so I can't tell you much. If you want to travel about 30-40 minutes, Whitewater is an option--especially for the big kids who like waterslides!

Lake Allatoona / Lake Acworth have several beaches at state and city parks. Lanier is a bigger lake and has quite a few more.

THanks for the advice, we are going to rent in Buckhead to start, I want to be close to everything.
My sons tend to get bored just in the swimming pools, so I may need to drive them to different places, we live across the beach and they get bored too, I have to find parks and lakes and stuff for them to do, any other advice is always welcome.

Atlanta is a pretty landlocked place (I wish we lived on or near a body of water -- I grew up in such a place.)

Anyway, you may consider a season membership to WhiteWater, but mostly why everyone uses their community pools is social. ONce your kids meets some kids, they will love going to the pool to play with their friends.

Buckhead is actually pretty far from Lake Lanier, Lake Allatoona, ST. Mountain. Certain suburbs are all closer.
