Marietta, Vinings, or Kennesaw? To many choices to relocate...

I am relocating to the Kennesaw or Marietta (Vinings) area and need to move quickly due to job relocation. I cannot afford a home, not unruly, work hard, and want to live in a safe, kid friendly area with my children. I was wondering if there are any Kennesaw apartments that are safe, "kid-friendly, quiet people/professionals, and close to parks/nature. Also, do you know if the Vinings area is safe -- the apartment communities near AMC movie theater or Post Crest apartments? The apartments near AMC movie theater seem safe and nicer than Post Crest, but the school district Bumbry Elementary near AMC movie theater was not as high as the ones at Teasley Elementary which services Post Crest area. Any info you can provide would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

Vinings is known as a somewhat trendy area for professional singles, and I know a fair number of people who live in Vinings or the immediate vicinity and who seem fairly happy there. If you live close to Vinings Jubilee, you'll be within walking distance of a decent selection of restaurants and shops, and I have the impression that it's a very safe area unless you're an outdoor kitty by the woods (Vinings has had a coyote problem in the past, as has much of the Atlanta metro).

Kennesaw, Marietta, and Vinings really aren't that close to each other, as the following map of Cobb County will show (the centers of Vinings and Kennesaw are 16 miles apart according to Google Maps):

I would let where you work be the main deciding factor. If you work in Kennesaw for instance then live in Kennesaw. If you work in Vinings, live in Vinings or Smyrna. Secondary deciding factor is if you are looking for something more cosmopolitan/urban, then that's Vinings/Smyrna or central Marietta. If you are looking for something more suburban, then that's Kennesaw or East/West Cobb. For Marietta, are you talking about central Marietta or East/West Cobb "Marietta"?

You can live in the Post apartments for a while but keep in mind they have a bait and switch strategy of starting you out low then raising your rent on you after so many months so use that to your advantage. For instance, in 2005, I started at $750 then after 3 months they sent me a warning that in 2 months my rent would increase to $940. If you have the credit to purchase a condo, then go to Promove, get a discount from them on a Post apartment, plan to live at Post for 6 months (6 month lease) and then start a search for a condo since they are super cheap right now due to an over-saturated condo market. Keep in mind that you have to give Post apartments a 2 month warning before the end of your lease that you plan to move out. In 2005, I ended up paying an extra month at Post Springs because I wasn't paying attention, even after I had already moved into a condo I purchased. Otherwise, you can do the same but just plan on moving apartments every year or so or rent your second unit from a private landlord who doesn't play the bait and switch game. Just as the condo market is over-saturated, there are many many condos for rent. It is wise to start at a commercial place first though since that's easier.
