Anyone else awaiting a traffic court date in Dekalb county ?

I've actually been waiting for mine for 16 months now. I had gotten a warning ticket for an expired tag. Basically, if I show up in court to show the judge I did get a tag (which I did) then no fine, it'll be dropped. There is no fine amount told when I call up to check, it's a "you have to show up" deal.

I had one about 5 months ago, but when I got to the courthouse I learned my date had been postponed and was told I'd hear from them via mail on my next date. I checked last week via phone and was told it's active and a date is still pending.

It's kinda comical that by the time I do get a date I'll have gotten that year's tag, plus a tag for the year after.

Who knows, not much longer and I'll have the tag for 2 years past the original year, lol.

Seriously though, a year and a half wait for a traffic ticket ? And I'm at that time now with no scheduled date, so longer than a year and half ?

County either needs to lay off writing tickets or hire more judges.

Yeah, DeKalb County is a little whack. I would just keeping riding it out until you do get an actual date. I guess you don't have much choice anyway. Keep all of your paperwork though. I would even probably keep copies in my glove box just in case you get pulled over. I doubt anything would show up on your record, but I certainly don't trust that someone else might have screwed up doing their job properly. You already see how competent the government is here.

Call them every day. Next time you get pulled over you might have a warrant.

Don't leave it hanging... It's a "must appear" violation and they will screw it up eventually... sometimes i think they do this stuff on purpose

16 months is just beyond belief

Yeah, I talked to a friend of mine this week-end that's a detective in Gwinnett. He said definitely stay on top of them until it's resolved. Take cityrover's advice and bug them every day until they get annoyed enough to do what they were suppose to have done in the beginning!
