When we first moved to Atlanta we rented a 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment at Peachtree Park Apartments in buckhead for 799.00 a month. I don't remember giving them much of a deposit. They did allow pets. I actually worked in Norcross at the time and my commute was 25 minutes long. You escape 85 south right before it starts to backup. If you think you can afford 799.00 a month then call them. Its in a really nice part of town so the schools should be good. Have you looked into housing with income requirements? Many nice places in the City of Atlanta have this because they have gotten rid of so much public housing.

Robert_B is on a distinguished road
Thank you for that tip. I looked at the site on forrent and it looks okay. I'll sure call them tomorrow. I doubt if it will be available without some sort of deposit though.

Can you explain housing with income requirements? Do you mean section 8? Like I said, I just returned here after 25 years and have no idea what's going on

We looked at a fixer up house to buy in Conyers today, that is a really nice rural city. Not sure about the commute though. If I have a chance on getting a mortgage I would be paying less monthly rates than an apartment would cost and would not have to worry about deposits or other things, so I am looking both ways. I am just in a hurry, live with a friend at the time and two families under one roof doesn't go to well for all that long of a time.

It isn't section 8, many complexes especially within the city limits of Atlanta, set aside a certain percentage of apartments for folks below the median income level. I don't know how you find these apartments though.
