Default Ellenwood in Dekalb County

Can anybody give me some information about Ellenwood? I'm looking to purchase there in Dekalb County around the area of Snapfinger RD., Wesley Chapel, River Rd....How are the schools in that area? Is there plenty of shopping? How is the crime rate? Any information that you can offer shall be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

There are some nice, remote areas at the southern tip of DeKalb County and across the border in Clayton County in Rex. But overall, I wouldn't advise purchasing a house in South DeKalb. The schools are not that great, the area is grossly underserved and property values aren't appreciating as fast as they are in other areas of Metro Atlanta. Also, you will have to deal with a lot of traffic congestion on I-285 and I-20 in your commute to work as most people in South DeKalb commute to the major business districts north of the area.

Some alternatives that I suggest you consider would be Southwest Atlanta/Camp Creek, South Fulton, Mableton, and Fayetteville.

Good luck!
