Default Engagement Ring

My friend is planning to pop the question to his girl friend anyday now and wondering where he can find a good jewerler for the engagement ring?

Or do you find better luck buying it online? (he was checking some websites such as bluenile.com)

Any suggestion would be appreciated!

Believe it or not, I saw a special about a year ago on 20/20 where they went to numerous jewlery stores as well as Walmart/Sams club and Costco. They said that Wal Mart/ Sam's Club's jewlery was excellent and you were getting what they were describing. Other places had less carats or the quality wasn't what they were saying it was. I've bought my wife a couple of pieces so far and she is very happy. Good Luck.

I highly recommend Diamond prices: comparison, statistics, education as a place to learn about diamonds. Go to their message boards- there are tons of gem experts there and they will help you out no matter what your knowledge level is. Spend some time there and you will become very informed (stuff way beyond the 4 C's too).

Bluenile has good values (compared to malls) but keep in mind they "drop ship" their diamonds. Which means they call their distributor to mail you the gem, and BlueNile never even sees the diamond. So if you're shopping at Bluenile, be prepared to order and ship back gems until you get one you love.

If you are going to buy online, find a place where they have gems on-site so they can investigate the gem personally. Good places for this are Engagement Rings,Design Your Own Ring Engagement Ring,Loose Diamonds,Cheap Diamonds<, Engagement Rings, Diamond Engagement Rings, Loose Diamonds,Ideal Cut Diamonds, Wedding Rings, and Engagement Rings, Loose diamonds and diamond jewelry at Whiteflash.com. All of them have great return policies too.
