JetBlue tried and failed. I can't see them succeeding as the fifth airline running ATL-NYC. They may have had a shot with flights to the west coast but they already tried that and left quickly.

“They will respond by trying to compete on price, quality or both,” Godbey suggested. “Either way Atlanta wins. Atlanta just became a more attractive location to do business.”

Southwest coming to Atlanta - Atlanta Business Chronicle

Hopefully this will help Atlanta lure those companies looking to relocate

I can't see how this is good news for Atlanta's airport. I would bet many of the routings that currently lay over in Atlanta will now do so elsewhere or not at all. Seems like it's good news for passengers, though.

I personally love Jet Blue's planes-relaxing with a bag of blue chips, no beverage carts in the aisle, and the little tvs to watch. Helps to pass the time.

Flying into JFK can be very helpful if you are continuing on internationally. And it is always nice to have more than one option when booking and paying for flights. I've found that the Delta flights between ATL and LGA are the most reliable and if something happens to one, there is usually another about an hour later. Although we lived closer to White Plains, my husband would drive to LGA for the earliest Atlanta flight on Monday in order to have more flexibility on Friday. The smaller airports in the NYC area, such as Islip and White Plains are also the first to close due to weather.

JetBlue rocks. Best airline I have EVER flown, and I have flown many thousands of miles. Used to take JetBlue from Boston to Seattle, DC, Florida, and other locations they flew from Logan. Superb experience.

I flew AirTran a few times from Atlanta, looking for a choice when Delta pissed me off. Experience was not that great. Southwest is OK, but they would be so much better if they had reserved seats. Who wants to spend money to fly and then stand around like you're waiting for the Greyhound.
