Hey! I currently live in Pensacola (if you couldnt guess from the name ) and my fiance and I are looking to relocate to Georgia sometime in the near future. I have spoken with different people and read the diverse opinions regarding the best and worst places. A co-worker spoke very highly of Cherokee county and I had not read anything about it on here but I was wondering if anyone had any useful information. We are both in our mid 20's and want to be close to a big city for work, entertainment and convenience.
Any suggestions/responses are greatly appreciated!

You'll probably only want to look at Woodstock. I wouldn't say it was close to the city, an neither one of them is convenient to the city. At least not during rush hour.

Entertainment consist of strip malls, chain restaurants, movie theatre... unless you like boating, biking, camping, and hunting which most people on don't usually mention as entertainment options but it plenty close to these.

I live in one of the new developments in Holly Springs/Canton and we love it. We were trying to get away from the traffic and crowd in Kennesaw. Are you looking for a rental, apartment, house... If you can give more detail it is easier to answer questions. Also do you want quiet living and drive to night life, work etc. or do you want to be in the mix?

Cherokee is nice but it's not that close to Atlanta. It's considered an outer-ring suburb. The main disadvantage is that the commute times are awful.

You could come one level closer to the city to the mid-ring suburbs like Cobb, North Fulton, West Gwinnett. Here you'll find more development, be closer to the city, and have the best schools.

Then there's the inner ring suburbs like Smyrna, Vinings, Sandy Springs, Dunwoody, Chamblee, these places are the closest to the city and contain the edge cities (like Perimeter and Cumberland) so you'll be right in the middle of everything and have short commutes. The downsides are high expense and worse schools than the mid-ring and outer-ring suburbs.

Cherokee cty is quite rural, and quiet ... opposite of Atlanta. And I love it! But if you need to work in ATL, its too far
