I just have to ask- what is a baby shower chair? Can you provide a picture?

Sorry I can't help, but your post definitely peaked my curiousity.

They are wicker chairs decorated for a baby shower.
There are a number of places to rent these chairs--a Google search will provide numerous options.

What is the chair for? Is it a gift to the mother for use in the baby's nursery or something? I'm guessing not if it's rented.

Is this is southern thing? I've seriously hosted a few baby showers and I would hate to think I missed out on something I was supposed to do...

Sorry to single you out, ewt, but I've seen several posts with this spelling error lately. The verb you mean is piqued, not peaked.

That looks like about $5 worth of tulle and some inexpensive dollar store ribbon. I'm pretty sure you can decorate a chair like that for $10, certainly no more than $20.

Who exactly comes up with these crazy traditions???

I'm going to invent a Bar Mitzvah stool and make people rent it.

I've been to a lot of baby showers but haven't ever seen anything like this. Maybe it's a Southern thing?
