We did our exodus from Metro Atlanta. It is the BEST decision we have ever made. We now reside in Cartersville- Bartow County and I have to tell you, it is a wonderful place to live. If you haven't visited the area, I recommend you do so.
If you want more in depth information I suggest you visit www.cartersvilletownies.net

I grew up in Newnan and it's worth a look. It used to be about 30 minutes from South Atlanta. I haven't been there in 25 years though so times have changed a lot!

I live in Euharlee, ga. I love it!! Very family friendly. Located in Bartow county north of atlanta. Schools are great! our neiborhods has noise level clause and is policed controlled with low crime. Kids are always riding up and down the streets on bycycles. In town their is always somethnig to do with kids, parades, concerts, museums, parks etc... Its @45 mins from atlanta but worth the drive

I live now in Newnan, been here 2 years and am moving as soon as we sell the house. It definitely is a small town feel while being close to Atlanta. I lived for 25 years in north metro Atlanta and Newnan area definitely has more than it does. Less trying to keep up with the Jones also.

We stopped for an ice cream at a Dairy Queen and both of us were struck by how ... rural ... all the other customers in line appeared, in regard to attire, accents, and content of conversation. When we got back into the car we agreed that "wow, it's not the Atlanta suburbs here!" despite the fact that we really weren't very many miles from home.

So, hmmm. Just what do you mean by appearance, accents, and of course content of conversation?

I second Decatur. It is only six miles east of downtown Atlanta, but it feels like a small "Mayberry" city at times (but with cool restaurants and shops). You will definitely get this sense if you visit during a parade or a May or September "concert in the square."
