I think you would enjoy a trip to Tybee. Terms like 'quaint and rustic' and also 'overdeveloped' are descriptors.

Kiawah Island SC is about 5 hours. We love the gulf but when you have the urge to surf or ride the waves....SC is better. Plus you can visit Charleston!

Yes it is nice. But the drive from Macon in I-15 is the most desolate boring stretch of road I have ever seen. Just 200 miles of trees. cannot even see a house, a barn or a cow.
