Someone sent me this comment in regards to the ferris wheel:

"this is a terrible idea. the ghetto riff raff of atlanta will take it over and make it unsafe and scary for tourists. someone will definitely fall off it one day. then what will eveyrone say???"

I got that one and the other one mentioned.

I think it is best just to ignore.

I think it someone that wants to make the argument, but they afraid of confronting their own prejudices.

So ... I'm thinking if there is anymore it is best just not mentioning their arguments.

It will not be built here. They had the meeting today but everybody said they were not going to spend there money on this idea

This AM the story is in the news cycle, so it doesn't sound like the idea is dead in the water just yet.
Personally, I like the idea if it's done with the same level of taste as the London Eye. It fits in beautifully with its' surroundings.
FYI this AM's story said that the same firm that built the London Eye would do the Atlanta wheel and that it would be 45 stories.

My post about putting it in Underground (or somewhere below street level...the Gulch, maybe?) got a similar response.
