I think something like "The Epicenter" in downtown Charlotte or "Victory Park" in Dallas would be nice. "The Epicenter" is a new, modern development above ground with restaurants, some shopping, a bowling alley, a movie theater, bars, and nightclubs. There was going to be a condo tower built on top but it never got build due to the economy. I think something like this on a larger scale would be a good replacement for Underground. It's brought a lot of people to downtown Charlotte, especially at nights. Victory Park has more glass, high rises, and lights but is sort of the same thing - dining, shopping, nightlife, condos, offices, etc. Thoughts?
Underground is a good place for a casino. Casinos would be adult entertainment along with nightclubs, strip joints, porn stores and other such things. It should be set aside for just that purpose and allowed a special 24/7 operating provision for adult entertainment. Nobody lives around there, most of the people that come here want to party, gamble and have a good time so give them a place to do it.

A casino? Really?
Where do these people come from? This is the Bible Belt. Even the word itself holds a word that works up the zealots (caSINo).
How about talking about something that really COULD happen...

Well according to Central Atlanta Progress website, at least 26,000 people live Downtown (not sure if that includes college students at GSU or not). That's a decent amount of people (could be a whole town) and I'm sure they wouldn't enjoy a casino coupled with adult entertainment such as strip joints and porn stores..... and I'm sure GSU wouldn't like it either. The school has been helping turn around Downtown. Strip joints and porn stores? I hope you're joking. That's the last thing this city needs more of.

Mississippi is even more full of religious nutcases than Georgia. I really cannot figure out how it happened there but if they could get gaming, any state could. So possible? yes. Likely, no.

They do need those things. Those things are what attracts visitors to the city. When adults come here they want to do adult things. They want to sin. So let them sin. Yes, people live downtown but not near Underground. That is why it would be a good "den of sin" for visitors. The casino should be put where the old world of coke was and the new giant ferris wheel at the other end with a new 2000 feet tower like the CN Tower in Toronto Canada. Sort a a Vegas of the south thing.

The old World of Coca-Cola was supposed to be the long promised Georgia History Museum.

Las Vegas basically markets itself as a den of sin "What happens in Vegas..." I'm not to keen on having the Atlanta's nexus point as our adult entertainment center. Although it would be convenient access for our Georgia lawmakers. And I'm not kidding.

I can't wait! A casino in ATL would be the best thing since the Braves moved from Milwaukee.

I think it can only happen if we get a heavy hitter in the casino business to commit to opening a casino/hotel here. Someone like Harrah's or the Horseshoe. I think it could possibly work if they could build a couple hotels around Underground. Something needs to be done there for sure.

Combine that with a dedicated effort in both making the area safe and more welcoming to tourists and it just may work.
