Can anyone tell me how good or bad Campbell High School, Marietta High School, Sprayberry & Wheeler are?

I have heard wonderful things about Walton. Is it all true?

Walton is the best school in the state.

Wheeler and Sprayberry are both good schools, but nowhere near as good as Walton or some of the other schools in the north metro area (Northview, Chattahoochee, Roswell, Milton, Pope, Lassiter).

Marietta High school is below average... I would not recommend it.

Campbell is just a flat out bad school. The only thing saving it is the fact the the neighboring school districts (South Cobb, Osborne, and Pebblebrook) are somehow even worse. These four are among the worst schools in the whole area - stay away.

From your questions, it looks like you are looking at the general Cobb County area. Walton is the best school in this region, followed by Pope and Lassiter which are also excellent. Then you have Wheeler, Sprayberry, Kennesaw Mountain, and Harrison which are all good but not top-ranking. Avoid everything else in Cobb County.

Roswell High district lies across the river from the Walton/Pope area in neighboring Fulton County. Roswell High is also excellent - the same range as Pope and Lassiter.

Agree with GF72's points. If you are looking in the Marietta/Smyrna area and have to send your kids to public HS, you're way better off looking in the East Cobb schools (Walton, Lassiter, and Pope). Campbell HS is so weird, because you've got SO MANY young families that have moved into the Smryna/Vinings area PLUS the very wealthy "old Vinings" area, yet the school is horrible. As for other area schools....yeah, Osborne is abyssmal. I played in an adult baseball league and we used their field and I, as a 32 year old, actually felt nervous walking to the fields. Kids were all loitering around at 7pm, fighting, yelling, etc. My old townhome is about a mile from Pebblebrook and driving by there reminds me of being in Bangladesh...no kidding. A DIRT track in front of the school and buildings that have not seen renovation since the 60's.

Campbell: If you are in the IB program, it's pretty decent, otherwise, stay away.

Marietta High School: pretty good metro area high school. You pretty much get all walks of Marietta city life there since it's the only public high school in the Marietta city limits. They have an IB program too. I'd send my kid there simply because of the diversity (on all levels) and the IB program.

Sprayberry and Wheeler: above average metro area high school. They are the most diverse out of all the East Cobb high schools.

Walton: It's practically the holy grail of high schools to many. Great test scores, varied course offerings, but it's VERY competitive.
