Hi everyone,

I just moved to Atlanta (eight days ago) and was wondering if there are any supermarkets close to the Decatur MARTA station? I'm from Boston and don't drive and need to stock up on food.

P.S. So far, I'm loving Atlanta. People here are so nice and friendly.

Thank you.

Thanks George.

I'm assuming I can walk to these from the MARTA?

The Kroger is within walking distance of the downtown Decatur MARTA Station.

The DeKalb Farmer's Market would be closer to the Decatur D7 Station. MARTA > Schedules And Maps > Rail Schedules or Route You could probably connect to a bus too. The DFM is incredible!

Silly question perhaps, but why would you move somewhere without knowing if you had ready access to basic needs??

Indeed...and surely you knew how auto-centric Atlanta is. It's world famous for that!

In ITP, it's more so people wanting to be autocentric rather than the environs being autocentric. Getting to a grocery store in ITP without a car in most districts isn't a hard thing to do.

Aside from this, YDFM would be your best choice. Though it is closer to the Avondale station, the next station after the Decatur stop.

The Commerce Kroger for your convenience runs, DFM for all else.

I agree, although for some reason we still do most of our grocery shopping by car. There's a grocery store 2/3 of a mile away and occasionally I'll pop in when I'm out for a stroll. However, it still seems complicated if I'm buying refrigerated items or anything bulky. I used to bike it sometimes but can't do that anymore due to a physical problem.

Maybe I'm just lazy. Shame on me.
