I just recently graduated from college and I live in New York. Thinking about re-locating to Atlanta but know nothing about the city. What would be best for me? I'm thinking dowtown or midtown might be best for me but not sure about the price of rent, diversity of people, security, etc. Appreciate all those who can give some advice. Also, if someone could break down the neighborhoods, i.e. what's closest to the city and how everyone gets around out there (I'm used to having my car or taking the subway) that would be great too!

The Atlanta metro is fairly large (50 miles in diameter?), and there are dozens of different areas with their own characteristics. It's hard to answer such a general question without knowing a little more about what you might be looking for.

Unless you're just talking about the City of Atlanta itself, which only comprises 450,000 or so of the 5 million folks living in the greater Atlanta metro.

I realize now just how broad I was being. I'm still in the research stage of thinking about moving but I was thinking of the city of Atlanta, so if someone could help break down the neighborhoods and what would be best for a recent college grad that would be great.

journalist...b/c the traffic is HORRENDOUS here...and marta really isn't comparable to the NYC transit system, I suggest you find employment first, then decide on a place to live based on that location
