The state has overturned this policy YET this women is still going to sue. Makes her complaint seem very disengenious to me as she is just looking for a payday.

She shouldn't have been arrested in the first place. People have sued and won with less reason.

She violated the law and refused to remove her hijab. The state has reviewed this policy and NOW allows it. When she choose to NOT remove it she was in violation of the court and was arrested as she should have been. Seems pretty cut and dry to me.

She was detained for 10 days as a result of this. If you work and/or have children, 10 days in jail could be very costly.Them changing the law doesn't obliterate the fact she feels her civil rights were violated and she was unfairly put in jail as a result.

You should read the article, she was released from jail within LESS than a day of her arrest. NOT 10 days.

The funny thing is someone could walk around all day in Douglasville wearing a sheet and not get in any trouble as long as it is white.

My question is would they have forced a jew to removed a skullcap? I swear these judges have some of the most oversized egos. 10 days in jail for this crap. Yep, good ol' Georgia.

Some of the comments on that story are downright ignunt.

I stand corrected. Nevertheless, she feels her rights were violated and she was humiliated after trying to leave the courthouse upon finding out headscarfs were not allowed. Since the police chief said the actions were due to miscommunication, I hope the municipality has a good attorney.

Many "policies" stand until somebody makes a court case against them. It wasn't even a case of her wearing a burqa which might have necessitated some additional security screening. This was a headwrap
customary to her religion. I would hope a judge, even in GA, would recognize her right right to wear it.

I wonder if I could wear a mask into the courthouse because I feel strongly about not letting them see my face. If they say no, can I sue them for discriminating against me because they're letting other people do it?

"She said when she objected and turned to leave, officers brought her before a municipal court judge who ordered her held for contempt of court."

Assuming this is true, this is the problem. Why not just let her leave? Not letting her in is one thing. Detaining her and arresting her is something that was completely avoidable.
