Smaller cities surrounding Atlanta?? (Douglasville, Carrollton: real estate, homes, homeschool)

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me some names of cities that surround Atlanta? If my husband and I relocate to the Atlanta area for his job, I dont necessarily want to live in downtown Atlanta, so Im wanting to get a list of surrounding areas to live that are not too far from Atlanta so I can check out real estate online. (Im more interested in the middle class areas than anything else) Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

Hes applying for the Atlanta Police Dept. so im assuming somewhere in the Atlanta area. Im just worried there isnt any affordable housing for a middle class family in the Atlanta area. We have 4 children and I stay home to homeschool them, and my husband does have a pressure washing business on the side for extra income, but our main income will be from the Police Dept, and after reading alot of entries on here Im afraid there isnt anything in our price range there. And we dont have to live directly in Atlanta, Id rather live in a great suburb family area anyway. Suggestions??????????

Look to the west of Atlanta.

Try Carrollton or Villa Rica about 35-40 miles from Atlanta (Carroll County).
Douglasville is another west side option and much closer in (Douglas County).
