My wife has the ability or opportunity to transfer to any city should we like and Atlanta has peeked our attention and we are familiar with the city. However, we would like an urban neighborhood and most of her offices are located in suburban areas and we'd like to cut our commute time and only one car, the locations are as follows.

Dunwoody, Kennesaw, Morrow, Douglasville, Conyers, and Alpharetta.

I would assume Dunwoody/Sandy Springs and Kennesaw/Downtown Marietta would be our best bet.

Could someone else let me know if there any other hidden gems I"m missing?

Thanks.

All of the areas you mention are suburban. Where is her office?

Morrow is a not so good area in Clayton County. Conyers is a middle of the road area to the east of town and Douglasville is a middle of the road area to the west of town. Both are pretty far out from Atlanta.

Dunwoody and Sandy Springs have MARTA service and are a little closer in to Atlanta. They are slightly older and more established areas than Kennesaw which is a little further out and has no transit options. Marietta postal addresses comprise a large part of Cobb County with greatly varying areas from the City of Marietta to unincorporated East/West Cobb areas. Marietta has multi-million dollar mansions and some housing projects, depending on where you are in that large area. Not much for transit in Marietta either.

Dunwoody and Sandy Springs (parts of them anyway) are serviced by MARTA trains and buses.

I think there's still a Cobb Transit system (not trains but bus lines)

A lot will depend on where in 'Atlanta' the employment is - sometimes the word 'Atlanta' encompasses a rather large area!
