All the way to Lovejoy or just to Jonesboro City Center?

Are there enough people in Lovejoy to justify mass transit?

South of the Jonesboro Justice Center/Downtown, you could have a park&ride stop for Irondale, which is a huge neighborhood. Then you could have a final park&ride stop in the north part of Lovejoy that covers Lovejoy, Hampton, and a large part of western Henry county.

So yes, I'd say it would be justified.

The Jonesboro station, provided it has parking, could easily catch riders from Fayetteville. Then the Southlake/Morrow station, located next to the I-75 exit, could serve as a commuter park&ride for Henry county.

Commuter rail does not require very many riders.

in the short run, i think the commuter rail idea is good for clayton county, but in the long run, it doesn't make any sense for MARTA to set up a whole new type of transit for just clayton county. this move only makes sense if they are seriously considering a commuter rail connection all the way to macon, because a commuter rail line on a shared track is only going to be sufficient for clayton county's transit needs for so long. this is especially true if one of the stops is indeed going to be at the new airport terminal; with airport commuters taking the line from downtown to the airport, it wouldn't be long before MARTA traffic started seriously impacting rail traffic on that line; that stretch in the long term really needs heavy rail because it's going to be a pretty popular line.

Why can't they just follow DC? We basically have the same infrastructure as DC!

DC

ATL

There, look at that map and look at Atlanta roads. EXACTLY THE SAME, and that metro runs very tight, and efficiently in DC.

If you read this again, you should do your own map for commuter rail for Atlanta.

Just made this. Let me know what y'all think. I mapped out the official planned lines, plus a few of my own infill stations, plus a few limited-stop rapid bus lines, plus an extension of the Gold line. This is assuming Gwinnett eventually joins MARTA.

Nice map primaltech. What did you make this with?

And I'm wondering could the airport line be extended south through Clayton County, if MARTA built it that way.
