You've touched a nerve on this one! No matter what other posters reply, nothing compares to NYC or SFLA delis... Wolfie's, 2nd Ave. Deli, Katz's or Rascal House...just not here.
The absolute closest thing you'll find here (and it's really not even worth comparing) is Goldberg's Bagels (several locations) and Bagel Palace (Toco Hills). Bagels are mediocre if that and you have to ask for pickles. It's a sad state of affairs.
Someone could make a big business out of bringing a real NY deli to Atlanta.

I like Goldberg's. I think it's as good as Wolfies and Rascal House. Maybe not as good as 2nd Avenue Deli but hey Atlanta is not NY.

I could really go to a good bagel with Sabel and cream cheese. I really hope someone tells me of a place.

Thanks for the info! Maybe someone will take the hint and open something for all of us who miss great deli food. There seem to be lots of people looking for the same thing and can't quite seem to find it... Maybe with more and more people moving to this area someone will take a chance and open a real NY style deli - we can only hope!

Years ago on Cheshire Bridge Road there really was another Katz's Deli opened by a New Yorker, and it gave way to the "Cheshire Bridge Deli" (we're talking 17 years ago?). Phil something-or-other owned it. Very authentic NY Jewish transplant. His wife was very nice and greeted people at the door and was hilarious - the whole nine yards... big hair, shoulder pads, and huge nails. Place was busy but he closed it suddenly.
Heck, I know people have talked about some place on Roswell Road, but I never get down that way - maybe there aren't any!
