Where are the best places to buy fruit in the Buckhead, Virginia Highlands, and Midtown areas?

Basically, I'm looking for somewhere that is relatively inexpensive, but tends to have consistently high quality fruit. I live alone, so I really hate buying food that's going to go bad quickly.

I normally go to Trader Joe's for groceries, but I've been frustrated by the fruit at some of them. Oftentimes, they'll just let things sit out forever, until it's on the verge of being bad. Bought some apples last night and they were kind of squishy. (But the bag I bought felt better than all the rest.) Kiwis were all way too squishy. They had no mangoes at all. Clementines were also a little past their prime.

It seems like way too many grocery stores do this. When I lived in Northern Virginia, I was normally able to find places with great fruit, but I'm having more difficulty here in Atlanta. Even the Trader Joe's in NoVa tended to be better about fresh fruit --- not sure why some of the ones down here are so bad about it.

Does anyone know any place that would meet the bill?

It's a bit far north, but for quantity, quality, and price, Buford Highway Farmer's Market is pretty much the bomb.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Is it walkable from Doraville MARTA Station?

You'd have to really want to.

Ditto for Buford Hwy Farmer's Market. I have been surprised at how much longer their produce stays fresh than produce from other grocers. The selection is pretty awesome too. Also, their produce seems to be much cheaper. Everything is pretty much cheaper at BHFM except for the products on the "American" aisle. For that stuff (prepackaged American foods, cleaning supplies, etc.), I think you're better off going to Kroger, etc.

Whole Foods on Ponce is always good. A bit expensive but lasts longer than the chains' fruit and other produce.

Have you tried the Decatur Farmer's Market? Farmers Market - Google Maps

I like it; I came from Oklahoma, and before then Chicago. I6ts the place I go 2, although others who've been here longer than my 4 years might be more knowledgeable! I wish you well.

YDFM (Your Dekalb Farmer's Market) - Good Pricing & Fresh plus you know the origin of the produce.
Whole Foods (Ponce, Briarcliff, Roswell Rd) - Expensive but generally fresh!

I have not purchased produce from Buford Hwy Farmer's Market but I can attest to their prices being extremely competitive. The same with Super H Mart (Doraville); I cannot attest the quality of produce but pricing is decent.
