Let me clear this up right now. Only a few companies control the vast majority of the media. These corporate, conservative companies are inherently not liberal.

We’re talking about Viacom, Disney, News Corp, Time Warner and Universal, plus Clear Channel, Sinclair, and others. Not to mention the outlets that actually admit that they are conservative....

Media Matters is merely a watchdog of these entities. If you don’t like what they note, then your issue is with the person(s) who originally spoke or wrote something, not Media Matters who documented it.

yes they do. That waiter or service worker you love so much (especially all the ones in ATL with their friendly attitudes, lol right) does not pay hardly any taxes. The 25 year old with the college degree making 40-50k is punished and pays 3x more taxes.

Oh Jesus. Grow up and educate yourself. Then come back and post.

You're on a roll today. I know numerous people making close or over a cool million. Many are liberal. Many are paying $500k + in tax.

Well put.

I also hate the idea that our country would separate out into groups that refuse to associate with others who might have differing political views. I know my own ideas have changed a lot over the years, in large measure due to the conversations and friendships I've had with others. Our "core group" of three other couples includes one person who loves Cynthia Tucker, two who think Rush Limbaugh hung the moon, a Rand Paul fan and the rest of us who are a mish-mash of all of the above. I consider myself a liberal on social issues, a fiscal conservative, and a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment who believes in reasonable regulations.

But the bottom line is we are all Americans and citizens of the world. I wouldn't trade our get-togethers and our robust exchange of ideas for anything.

Sure, and I was in the position of the latter person 20 years ago. What makes you think such people are conservative?

Guess what? My husband was in the military and continues to serve our country as a reservist. He also works in law enforcement. I am a college graduate with three jobs (yes, three. One is as a management position in public service in Atlanta and two are my own business...dog training and graphic design work.) We are more on the side of the people who pay higher taxes because of how much we make and we are both pretty darn liberal.

Your argument makes no sense. Yes, people who make more pay more taxes. But I know plenty of very wealthy liberals. I also know plenty of wealthy conservatives. It's not a political thing.

LOL, you don't know much about taxes, do you ****, if that waiter/service worker is married there's a good chance they're in the exact same tax bracket as the person you're crying about. Also, do you have any idea *how many* 25 year olds with college degrees end up having to wait tables, at least for a while? ESPECIALLY in this kind of job market? I like how you try to act like no one with a college degree EVER does service work. Clearly, you've really got your finger on the pulse of what's going on in modern America

Also, lol @ "middle america" not wanting to hear the news from reporters. Yeah, what good is news anyway!? Who has time to learn stuff about things they don't experience in their day-to-day lives? Everything "middle america" needs to know can be seen on the drive to work, or overheard from people having conversations while shopping at wal-mart.

Your disdain for news and information does explain your apparent cluelessness on this topic though, so at least I know where you're coming from.

AnsleyPark, thank you!

I am sure there are many good hearted, open-minded people in this city and in this state. I have met a few. I have just met too many of the opposite and it just doesn't feel like home here.

I will be here a few more years though and I am trying to make the best of what I think is a beautiful state and area of the country. I am glad to hear there are people out here who see that coexisting and making friends with people from all walks of life is a good thing and can only help us all out in the longrun.

I work at a print shop in Atlanta. I did the same work when I lived in Phoenix, and was a frequent print shop customer in California as I also do graphic design. In Los Angeles and Phoenix, there was the occasional "blah" employee and occasional rude customer. Here? Most of the people I work with are incredibly blunt and NOT helpful to customers. "No, we don't do that here, uh uh." No smile, no "What I CAN do for you." Nothing. And customers? Don't get me started how RUDE they can be here. It's almost like this attitude of feeling entitled for some strange reason.

I find this numerous places where I shop, too. I always smile, ask people how their day is going, etc. 3 out of 5 times I will get "Fine" and that's it. It's almost like what you said above where people are like "Why are you talking to me?"

I live in Conyers and work in Atlanta. So I see 2 totally different aspect of the Georgia lifestyle. Both have disappointed me. This really is a beautiful state, but I cannot get over how blunt and just plain rude people can be here. Not everyone, but my experience I've met more here than I ever met on the west coast.

Example...I was at a pool hall one night with my husband and a couple people we knew who brought a couple friends of theirs. We were having a couple drinks and just playing pool. Out of nowhere one of the guys brings up how much he hates liberals and democrats. My husband looked over at me, us both being liberal, and it just took everything in me to stay quiet. I mean, really? You are in mixed company, around people you don't really know, and you say something like that? I was offended and taken back. I would NEVER say something like that, especially in mixed company. I respect that people have differing opinions than I do. The sad thing is, I've heard this come out of people mouths here numerous times now. And they say it in front of people who they don't know their political background. This never happened in L.A. I have good friends on both sides of the political spectrum and we can have educated, interesting conversations and debates. But I've never met people who just come out and say things like "There's only one thing I hate more than liberals..." and so on in mixed company or in front of strangers until I came here.

Just be glad you don't live in Ohio.
