The key is to let them know how you feel, and to hold them accountable for their votes. I find it inexcusable for anyone to vote against this bill. All this bill does is authorize counties and cities to hold a vote and to let the local voters decide. If your county wants to vote against Sunday sales....so be it, but don't hold the rest of us hostage.

I heard the lobbyist from the Christian Coalition on TV the other day trying to make the case that allowing package store or grocery store sales of booze on Sunday would lead to a huge increase in drunk driving. Are they on drugs? Yeah, I bet everyone will be cracking that six pack or bottle of wine open on the ride home. Good thing we have everyone safely drinking in bars where they won't contribute to the DUI problem.

I'll bet if you did a little digging you'd find that many of the loudest opponents of this bill are moonshine bootleggers, and they oppose the bill because it'd cut into their profits.

47 other states seem to cope with this and I'm certain there are conservative Christians in these states. I guess I just don't understand and never will. The article said that polls were taken to indicate constituents were not radically opposed.

I'm a little surprised at the ferocity of the opposition, since this bill simply provides for a local option. It doesn't authorize statewide Sunday sales.

It is not so much about drinking, per se, it is about having a choice, freedom to do what we want on any given Sunday.

It's all about power, control and influence on the part of the religious groups. They want the power, they want the control and they want to keep as much influence on the politicians as they can.

I emailed my state senator and chip rogers as well and made an analogy to music; while I as well as others dont care for rap or hip hop and dont want to listen to it, does that give anyone the right to restrict others from buying recordings of it and listening to it. Hell no, it is of no consequence to me or others what people listen to, and it is just as much no consequence to these delusional morons whether or not people buy liquor on a sunday.

The legislators should be ashamed of themsleves for not fixing this a long time ago. To have the rights of citizens trampled on by religious zealots in the form of restricting liquor sales should be abhorrent to all of us.

More BS from Christian Coalition spokesman. Virtually every sentence either a bald faced lie or pure fantasy.

Having grown up in rural Georgia, this isn't really surprising. Religion holds sway of many things public. Behind closed doors, however, it's vastly different.

Not sure about that. I don't think too many people are seeking out moonshine on Sunday, at least here in the metro area.
